About this event

The Chairman and Officers of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg in partnership with the British Embassy have great pleasure in inviting you to attend a private viewing of Hereford Cathedral’s copy of the Magna Carta, one of the most celebrated documents in history. This will take place on Monday 5 October 2015 at the European Court of Justice from 09.30 - 10.00.

Magna Carta, meaning ‘The Great Charter’, is one of the most famous documents in the world. Originally issued by King John of England (r.1199-1216) as a practical solution to the political crisis he faced in 1215, Magna Carta established for the first time the principle that everybody, including the king, was subject to the law. Although nearly a third of the text was deleted or substantially rewritten within ten years, and almost all the clauses have been repealed in modern times, Magna Carta remains a cornerstone of the British constitution.

The visit will last about 30 minutes and there will be specialists on hand from Hereford Cathedral to introduce the Magna Carta and explain its role in the historic development of the rule of law and human rights. For further information please visit: Magna Carta

PLEASE NOTE: This is a sustaining members only event. As places are extremely limited we can offer one place per sustaining member company and registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are not able to attend you can nominate a representative of your company to take your place.

Unfortunately on this occasion spouses are not invited to attend.

To reserve a place please reply by email to info@bcc.lu before Thursday 1 October 2015. Please bring identification with you on the day.
