The British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to the first lunch of 2013 with Guest Speaker Etienne Schneider, Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade.
He will be talking on the subject, "Difficult times and ways ahead".
Etienne was born in 1971 in Dudelange and attended, amongst other educational institutions, the Institut catholique des hautes etudes commerciales (ICHEC) in Brussels and Greenwich University in London, where he was awarded a degree in commercial and financial sciences in 1995.
Prior to being appointed Minster of the Economy and Foreign Trade in 2012 he held several other positions including: Secretary General of the parliamentary group of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers Party (LSAP) in Parliament and following the municipal elections of 2005 he was elected first alderman of the municipality of Kayl, a position he held until May 2010. In 2009 he was appointed senior government advisor to the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade responsible for the Directorates of Economic Development, infrastructures and Energy and by 2011 he assumed responsibility for the Directorate General of Economic Development, Industry and Businesses. Due to his roles within the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade he became a member of the executive board of several companies and led the negotiations that resulted in the creation of ENOVOS, he became Chairman of Enovos International S.A. and Enovos Deutschland AG. In late 2010 he assumed the role of vice-chairman of Societe nationale de credit et d'investissement (SNCI). Upon his appointment to Minister he resigned all other positions.
