The British Chamber of Commerce is pleased to invite you to attend a lunch with Guest Speaker, Dr Christian Barkei, Principal, St Georges International School, Luxembourg, who will speak on the subject: "International Education: Across Continents".

Dr Christian Barkei first taught for a sustained period of time at a traditional Grammar School in the United Kingdom and then served in three international Schools as Principal first in Shanghai, then in Jakarta, and now in Luxembourg at St George’s. He grew up moving between Australia, the UK and Bavaria and has been part of a globally orientated family ever since. A graduate of the Universities of Exeter and Durham, he very much enjoys the Luxembourg countryside and the history of the region.

His particular personal academic interests lie in historiography, the transformation of societies and the politics of the Modern Age. He enjoys political and historical debate and discussion and will often choose history-related themes or topics as a basis for assemblies.

As an experienced international school head he has seen the difficulties and opportunities international education provides for internationally-minded families and will share with the audience a number of ways they can best approach the ‘simple’ challenge of finding the ‘right’ school, the ‘right’ language and the ‘right’ curriculum for their children when that call comes from Head Office to relocate to a country no-one has ever heard of.
