This is a fantastic opportunity to discover the Mudam, experience the exhibition, “Damage Control” opening on 12 July 2014  and to meet Enrico Lunghi.  Enrico was recently reappointed as General Director of the Mudam for a second term of 5 years.  He has a mandate to consolidate the progress achieved during his first term, particularly in terms of increasing the visibility and identity of the museum and the continued adaptation of its programme to the evolution of the art world, creating visitor loyalty and appealing to new sections of the public.

The tour will commence with an introductory speech by Enrico.  The key works of the Mudam Collection as well as the exhibition will be explained during the tour.

"Damage Control - Art and Destruction since 1950", organized by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, in association with Mudam Luxembourg and Universalmuseum Joanneum / Kunsthaus Graz :

Since the middle of the 20th century, destruction has played a wide range of roles in contemporary art: as rebellion or protest, as spectacle and release, or as an essential component of re-creation and restoration. Damage Control: Art and Destruction Since 1950 offers an overview, if by no means an exhaustive study, of this central element in contemporary culture. Featuring approximately 90 works by more than 40 international artists, and including painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, film, video, installation and performance, the exhibition presents many of the myriad ways in which artists have considered and invoked destruction in their process

Lunch will be held in the Mudam Café, arranged by the French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, The space and the menu were conceived as an integral part of the museum visit, extending the multiple experiences to which visitors are invited to avail themselves during their discovery of the exhibitions in one of the country’s most beautiful pieces of architecture.
