On Wednesday 18 March 2026, business leaders, policymakers, and members of the international community gathered at Cercle Cité for a timely and forward-looking discussion on one of Luxembourg’s key strengths: its reputation as a safe and attractive destination for global talent.
Against the backdrop of increased public debate around safety perceptions, the event provided a platform for open dialogue and practical insight into how Luxembourg is addressing evolving security challenges while safeguarding its international appeal. Organised by the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg, together with the British-Luxembourg Society and in partnership with the Ville de Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and many of the leading international chambers of commerce in Luxembourg, the session brought together prominent voices from government, the City of Luxembourg, and the wider business community.

The evening opened with welcome remarks from Andrew Notter, Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg, who set the scene for a discussion focused on the intersection of security and international competitiveness. In his keynote address, H.E. Léon Gloden, Minister for Home Affairs, outlined the government’s strategic priorities to reinforce public safety, enhance law enforcement capabilities, and maintain trust among residents and international professionals.

A fireside chat between Andrew Notter and Muriel Morbé, Talent & Skills Director at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, explored the Talent4Luxembourg initiatives and their role in strengthening the country’s ability to attract and retain skilled international professionals.

The panel discussion brought together H.E. Léon Gloden, Lydie Polfer (City of Luxembourg), Laurent Mosar (CSV), Alexandre De Toffol (DP), and Liz Braz (LSAP), and was expertly moderated by Cordula Schnuer, Editor-in-Chief of the Luxembourg Times. The panel addressed current concerns around public safety, ongoing legislative reforms, and concrete measures being implemented at both national and municipal levels to ensure Luxembourg remains a secure and welcoming place to live and work.

Following an engaging Q&A session with the audience, the evening concluded with a networking cocktail, offering attendees the opportunity to exchange views and build connections across sectors.
Overall, the discussion reaffirmed Luxembourg’s commitment to maintaining its reputation as a safe, stable, and attractive destination for international talent, while highlighting the importance of continued collaboration between government, city leadership, and the international business community.
