The British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to attend a lunch with guest speakers, Fatima Chaouche, référendaire, Administrative Court of Luxembourg and Georges Simon, Founding Partner, SIMON Law, who will speak on the subject: "Tax audits in Luxembourg – Key takeaways from research and case-law". This will take place on Wednesday 03 July 2024 at 12:00 at Hotel Parc Belair,  111 Avenue du Dix Septembre, L-2551 Luxembourg.

Tax audits are recently on the rise in Luxembourg and yet little is known on their governing rules and how they are implemented by the direct tax administration. Tax advisors and lawyers are often unprepared as they lack practical experience with tax audits. In addition, tax audit rules originate from German laws inherited by Luxembourg during WW II and limited litigation has been brought before the competent courts on the topic of tax audits. This presentation will provide the participants with the conclusions of the research on the administrative practice of tax audits and provide key takeaways from recent tax audit cases decided upon by the tax supreme Court (Cour administrative of Luxembourg).

Speakers:

Fatima Chaouche is référendaire at the Administrative Court of Luxembourg. She holds a PhD in tax law from the University of Luxembourg where she currently teaches tax procedure. She is the editor-in-chief of the tax journal: Cahiers de fiscalité luxembourgeoise et européenne (Larcier, Coll. Uni.lu).

Georges Simon is the Founding Partner of SIMON Law. Georges is a member of the tax group of the BCC and the Secretary of the Luxembourg Branch of the International Fiscal Association. Georges is the sub-editor of the tax journal: Revue de Droit Fiscal (Legitech).
