As we gather in the spirit of joy and goodwill, I extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you this festive season. Christmas is a time for reflection, gratitude and togetherness, and it is an honour to share this special message as the Chair.

In a year that has presented its share of challenges, our community has demonstrated resilience, creativity and unwavering support for one another. The strength of our collaborative spirit has been the cornerstone of our success, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.

As we approach the close of this year, let us take a moment to appreciate the accomplishments, big and small, and the relationships that have enriched our professional and personal lives. May the spirit of Christmas fill our hearts with hope, kindness, and a renewed sense of purpose.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our members, partners, and the dedicated team at the Chamber for their commitment and contributions. Your passion and engagement have been instrumental in shaping the success of our community, and we are excited to continue organising excellent events in 2024 and look forward to welcoming you to our New Year cocktail in January 2024.

Linklaters advises SWIAT on the establishment of RL1, Luxembourg’s second European Cooperative Society (SCE)

Linklaters has advised fintech company SWIAT on the establishment of a Luxembourg-incorporated European cooperative structure for the blockchain initiative Regulated Layer One (RL1).RL1 is designed as an open, neutral and compliance-focused DLT network for the European financial sector. It brings together leading financial institutions from Germany, the Netherlands, France and Spain to overcome the existing fragmentation of blockchain networks in financial services and provide a shared infrastructure for tokenized assets, digital money and digital capital markets applications RL1 commences operations with ten leading financial institutions. This new entity is only the second European Cooperative Society (SCE) to be incorporated under Luxembourg law, requiring a forward-looking approach from our Luxembourg team. We use our expertise and resources to help clients pursue opportunities and manage risk across emerging and developed markets around the world. The firm counts more than 3,000 lawyers worldwide; the Luxembourg office counts 120 lawyers and a total staff of more than 170.
