The Luxembourg based British Chamber of Commerce and British Ladies Club jointly arranged a special event in celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day.

Held on the evening of Friday 8 March at Silversquare, Luxembourg city, a sold out event witnessed three inspiring women speakers share their personal and professional journeys.

Entitled: “Three Women. Three Stories. Three Questions” in fact, far more than three questions came up in lively discussion.  As a result  the packed audience was treated to unique answers and insights from the impressive panellists, namely:

•   Lisa Burke, Presenter, Moderator, Author, Scientist , Voice-over Artist and Weekly Chat Show host @RTLToday

•   Esther Celosse, Co-Founder & CEO of, Return2Career with a background in the international finance sector and as a former University Professor

•   Patrizia Luchetta, Partner, Kavedon Kapital a Venture Capital firm whose philosophy and ethos is built on Circular Economics.

The facilitators, Lene Pedersen, Claudia Neumeister and Josh Dhillon from the BCC People and Leadership Group gently led the three speakers into challenging areas: with questions on work/family balance, career change, quotas, the unique qualities of women and the challenges of accompanying a partner to live and work in a new country.

Each panellist was able to give a riveting tale of their personal experiences in getting to where they are today. This was an evening for genuine insights to the difficulties faced by successful women – and what it takes to flourish regardless.

Judging from the questions posed by men in the audience it was, at least for some of them, a humbling and educational experience, too.

The event highlighted the incredible impact women make in various fields including as entrepreneurs or as skilled employees. These were stories of triumph and resilience

The sponsors of the evening were  Venkatapen Boutique Lawyers, MyOwnTaxPractice and Silversquare

An evening that began with formal introductions closed with informal drinks and nibbles. In between, it was a heart opening insight to the achievements of the engaging panellists.

Women and girls have come a long way and yet much more is needed to see a world that is truly diverse, equitable and inclusive.
