British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg 2026 AUTUMN EDITION launched

Luxembourg, 4 September 2026 – Festival Events Asbl today announced the launch of the 17th British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg 2026 Autumn Edition: screenings will be held at Ciné Utopia and Cinémathèque @Cercle Cité. While the core festival dates are from 19 – 27 September, they are having other screenings before and after these dates.

The film festival provides a unique opportunity for viewers to experience a wide selection of new films from Britain and Ireland. The 2026 AUTUMN EDITION includes 12 feature-length films from a cross-section of genres and representing mainly independent cinema. In addition, they will be screening some short films, including a 10-minute documentary from the winners of the Young Filmmakers Competition 2025/26, plus the launch of the Young Filmmakers Competition 2026/27.

The British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg (BIFFL) 2026 AUTUMN EDITION will have “TRAD” as its official Opening Screening, an Irish comedy drama set in the world if traditional music, and will close with “FINDING EMILY”, an English-American comedy drama. All films will be receiving their Luxembourg premiers during the festival.

Luxembourg to Introduce Protected Cell Companies for Partnership Funds

On 30 July 2026, Luxembourg tabled legislation to permit statutory compartments within eligible SCS and SCSp alternative investment funds. If adopted, the reform will bring partnership AIFs closer to traditional fund vehicles by allowing legally ring-fenced compartments under a single structure.One of the last structural distinctions between Luxembourg partnership AIFs and product-law fund vehicles may soon disappear. When adopted, the bill introduced on 30 July 2026 will allow sponsors of eligible SCS and SCSp alternative investment funds, managed by an authorised EU AIFM, to establish legally segregated compartments — without the need to establish a RAIF, SIF, SICAR or other product-regulated vehicle.
